I write for work.And because I can’t help it.

Fashion and writing have been two constants in my life. One is how I express myself; the other is how I make sense of everything.

Hi, I’m Sara. I’m a Philadelphia-based PR professional and writer. By day, I find the angle, write the pitch, and figure out who actually wants to hear the story. I’ve worked on national launches and consumer campaigns for brands including Johnson & Johnson, Dove, and CVS Health.

On my own time, I write about fashion, identity, and whatever else I can’t seem to get out of my head. I’ve always thought clothes have a lot to say about us, even when we don’t quite have the words ourselves.

This is where I keep a little bit of everything: the work I’m proud of, the things I’ve written, and the interests that make me, well, me.

Here’s what I do.

Most days, it’s a mix of asking questions, finding the angle, and rewriting something until it sounds like a person wrote it.

01 / THE PITCH

I know how to find the story.

I research the reporters, figure out what matters to their audiences, and write pitches that get to the point. I’ve worked across national outlets, trade publications, and local broadcast — and I’ve learned that the follow-up matters just as much as the first email.

02 / THE WRITING

I make the complicated readable.

Press releases, bylines, case studies, executive copy, video scripts. I’ve written a little bit of everything. A lot of my experience is in healthcare, which means I’ve had plenty of practice making dense information clear without losing what’s important.

03 / THE INSTINCT

I pay attention.

To what people are talking about, what makes a story interesting, and why certain things stick with us. Sometimes that’s a headline or a campaign. Sometimes it’s an outfit. It’s the same curiosity that keeps me writing about fashion, identity, and culture on my own time.

01 / Professional work

A few things I’ve worked on.

I’ve written about surgical robots, pitched stories involving professional athletes, and worked on campaigns for a beauty brand I grew up knowing. PR has taken me into some pretty different worlds. Here are a few projects that have stuck with me.

01 / Edelman

Dove × SHE Weekend

Consumer campaign | Edelman

A welcome opportunity to step outside my usual healthcare beat. I helped build media targets and shared outreach responsibilities for Dove’s SHE Weekend activation, bringing my media relations experience into a more consumer-focused space.

02 / Edelman

CVS Health × Alex Morgan Foundation

Consumer activation | Edelman

For this activation, I handled priority local broadcast outreach, including pitching KTLA, which expressed interest in coverage. A fun opportunity to work on something that brought together health, community, and a familiar face.

03 / Edelman

Johnson & Johnson OTTAVA

Product announcement | Edelman

Surgical robotics isn’t exactly light reading. I supported launch-day pitching for Johnson & Johnson’s OTTAVA announcement, helping translate complex news into something reporters could work with. Our broader team secured interviews with Reuters and several industry publications, plus 41 additional stories.

Coverage results reflect the broader team’s work.
04 / Bamboo Health

Bamboo Health

Editorial strategy & brand communications | In-house

At Bamboo Health, I got to spend more time on the writing side of communications. I helped shape the brand’s voice and developed everything from bylines and case studies to video scripts, blogs, and executive content. A lot of it came down to taking complicated information and making it sound like something a real person would say.

02 / Independent work

The things I write for myself.

I love writing for work, but there’s something nice about not having a brief to follow. On my own time, I write about fashion, identity, growing up, and whatever else I haven’t quite figured out. Sometimes it’s serious, sometimes it’s a little ridiculous, and sometimes I sit down to write about one thing and end up somewhere completely different.

My Substack

Somehow We Mend

My little corner of the internet, where I get to write whatever’s on my mind. Mostly personal essays about the things I’m interested in, the things I’m still figuring out, and the occasional thought that probably could’ve stayed in my Notes app.

Not every thought turns into an essay. Sometimes it’s an outfit, a photograph, or something I wanted to remember. That’s where Instagram comes in.

03 / About me

A little more about me.

I’m Sara, a writer and PR professional living in Philadelphia.

I’ve spent the last few years working in agencies and in-house, pitching reporters, writing more drafts than I’d care to count, and learning how to make complicated subjects make sense to people who don’t spend all day thinking about them.

Most of my professional experience has been in healthcare, which has taken me into some pretty interesting territory. I’ve written about everything from surgical robotics to consumer health, and somewhere along the way, I’ve realized that what I enjoy most is finding the human part of a story.

But I’ve always had interests that extend well beyond my day job.

Fashion has been one of them for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been fascinated by the way people dress, the things we hold onto, and how something as simple as an outfit can carry so much meaning. It’s a big part of what I write about when I’m writing for myself.

I don’t think the things we do for work and the things we love outside of it have to exist in completely separate worlds. I’m interested in finding out what happens when mine don’t.
